The Bluffs of Sandy Shores, a Local Dallas Gem!
This lake has been thoughtfully developed from the ground up, with significant investments in stocking and habitat creation. It offers one of the most refined and fish-friendly environments for anglers, making it a flagship lake for Private Water Fishing.
Stocking and Habitat Development:
- Initial Stocking (2017-2018): The lake was stocked with red ear sunfish and copper nose bluegill in the fall of 2017, followed by pure Florida bass in June 2018. This careful selection of forage and bass genetics helped kickstart the lake's growth, with reports of bass over 10 lbs as early as March 2022.
- Ongoing Investments: Over the years, tens of thousands of dollars have been spent on stocking additional forage fish such as bluegill and threadfin shad, along with more forage each year to sustain the growing bass population.
Fishing Habitat:
-
The lake was specifically designed with fishermen in mind. It features dramatic rock humps and timber piles, as well as brush piles that stretch over 100 feet long and 30 feet high. These habitats provide diverse and rich environments for the bass and make fishing here an exceptional experience.
Fishing Regulations:
- Harvesting Bass: Members are required to remove all bass 16" and under. This is mandatory to ensure the growth of trophy bass in the lake. If you are not comfortable with this harvest requirement, you are encouraged to fish another one of our properties where harvest is not requested.
- Catch Reporting: After your outing, please report the total number of fish harvested via the online reservation system.
Boat Launch and Equipment:
-
Ramp: The property boasts a 100-foot long, 16-foot wide concrete boat ramp, perfect for launching larger boats.
- Boat & Trailer Wash: Before entering the lake, all members are required to wash their boats and trailers. There are clear instructions at the entrance, and members must wash off the trailer, boat hull, motor (including prop), and live well to prevent contamination.
- Boats Available:
- A 14-foot jon boat is available by request. Please notify the club office in advance so that the boat can be brought to the ramp before your fishing day.
- A mini pontoon boat has been added for member use. Members should bring at least a 50 lb thrust trolling motor with a 42" shaft to power the boat. It is recommended to bring two batteries for the day.
- Live Well: There is a live well on the pontoon boat, but DO NOT leave harvested bass in the live well. Please use the provided aerated tub or take them with you.
Fishing Details:
- Bass Population: The lake is home to exceptional bass fishing, with a focus on growing trophy-sized bass. Bass over 10 lbs have already been reported, and many others are growing fast.
- No Catfish or Crappie: Please note that there are no crappie or catfish in this lake, so bass is the primary target species.
Reservation Requirements:
-
2 Adult Minimum: This lake requires a two-adult minimum for reservations.
- Bank Fishing: Bank fishing is not allowed.
Rest Periods and Access:
- Rest Periods: The lake is reserved for only 8 fishing reservations a month, ensuring it rests for 22-23 days each month. These rest days help maintain the lake’s quality fishing experience.
With its exceptional infrastructure, dedicated management, and commitment to maintaining the fishery, this lake offers one of the best bass fishing opportunities available through Private Water Fishing.
