With a surface area of approximately 20 acres, The Lake at Legacy Oak is an exceptional fishery in terms of both size and numbers of bass. This lake is a bass fisherman’s’ dream – loaded with structure, forage, and of course lots of bass and big bass. The lake has a maximum depth of almost 30 feet and much of the lake is in excess of 6’-7’ feet deep. The lake contains a myriad of structure to which big bass relate at almost any time of year. Structure includes an island, numerous shallow bays, cattails surrounding the perimeter of most of the lake, deep flats, drop offs, channels and both shallow and deep submerged and emergent timber. Forage includes an abundance of copper nose bluegill, minnows, frogs, and crayfish.
Additionally, The Lake at Legacy Oak is unique in that a large portion of the lake is spring fed by natural springs expressing at the surface in and around the lake. While most lakes in central Texas fluctuate and can shrink dramatically with summer heat and drought patterns, The Lake at Legacy Oak maintains an almost constant level within a foot of full pool except in the most intense heat and extended dry spells.
To prevent the spread of zebra mussels and invasive aquatic vegetation, please be certain to remove any weeds from your trailer, and that all live wells or any standing water in watercraft you plan to launch has been thoroughly removed and the interior of watercraft dried before arriving onsite. Any violation of this requirement will lead to permanent revocation of fishing privileges for this exceptional bass fishery.
Note: One additional landowner has limited access to this lake. PWF has made an exception to our lake ownership rules due to the extraordinary quality of this fishery.
A flatbottom boat is available for PWF member use and a small dirt boat ramp is available for bass buggies, kayaks, and small aluminum boats up to 14’. Launching a full-sized bass boat is not advised. We plan to add a rock ramp by the Spring of 2025.
Requirements
No posting of videos of the lake or property on public media platforms without written consent of owner.
Do not dispose of bass on site. If you prefer, with prior notice, arrangements may be made with the owner to leave your cull bass in fish baskets hanging from the end of the large dock.
Take all trash with you. Clean boat of all trash including your used soft plastics and remember to close and lock the gate.
No targeting crappie or sunfish. All sunfish/bluegill/perch and crappie must be released.
The area to turn around at the bottom of the hill to launch your boat could be too small for a long wheel based truck with a trailer. You may want to back down the hill with your trailer or walk down to evaluate before driving down with a trailer.
