Frannies Lake - A Short Trip East of Dallas 60-Acre Lake (Built in 2009)

This 60-acre lake with a depth of 25 feet offers excellent fishing opportunities in east Texas, just 80 miles east of downtown Dallas. Built in 2009 by the same engineering firm that constructed Lake Fork, the lake is designed with fishermen in mind and boasts numerous features to make for an enjoyable fishing experience.

Lake Features:

  • Size: 60 acres, with depths reaching 25 feet. The water has a tea-colored tint, typical of many east Texas lakes.
  • Brush and Habitat: The lake has substantial brush, most of it underwater, providing excellent cover and habitat for fish. This enhances fishing opportunities by creating structure for bass and other species.
  • Forage: The lake receives regular forage additions, such as tilapia, threadfin shad, or bluegill, depending on the year. This ongoing stocking helps sustain a healthy fishery and ensures that bass have a steady food source.
  • Fish Species: The lake is primarily managed for bass fishing, but you will also encounter crappie and catfish.
  • Fishing Expectations: Harvesting of all bass 14” and under, along with all crappie and catfish, is mandatory at this location to ensure the continued health and balance of the fishery.

Access and Launching:

  • Boat Ramp: There is a 16-foot-wide concrete ramp that can accommodate full-size bass boats.
  • Boathouse: The lake features a covered boathouse with a 16-foot pontoon boat available for use by members. Please note that the pontoon boat does not have seats, so be sure to bring your own. Additionally, there is no trolling motor on the boat, so you must bring your own motor and batteries.
  • Jon Boat: A 14-foot v-hull jon boat is also available for use. Important: Do not drag the jon boat on the ramp, as it can cause damage to the ramp surface.

Fishing Guidelines and Rules:

  • Harvesting: MANDATORY harvesting of bass 14” and under, along with all crappie and catfish, is required. After your fishing outing, you must report the total number of each species removed via the online reservation system.
  • Live Wells: Ensure that you bleach your live wells to prevent the spread of invasive species between lakes.

Additional Information:

  • Access: There are two locks at the front gate. You must ensure both the PWF combination lock and the keyed lock are properly locked together to avoid issues for the property staff. A picture of the correct way to lock the gate is included in the property photos.
  • Fishing with Others: Occasionally, the landowner’s family or friends may fish at the lake during your reservation. If you prefer fishing alone, consider booking an alternative lake.
  • Nearby Amenities: For additional tackle or a lunch break, Lake Fork Trophy Lures, a full-service tackle store, and several restaurants are located less than 10 minutes from the property’s front gate.
  • Reservation Requirements: A two-person minimum and full-day minimum are required for reservations at this lake.

This lake offers a well-rounded fishing experience for anglers who are prepared to actively participate in fish management and enjoy a day of bass fishing with ample structure and healthy forage.
