I didn’t get out to the lake until about 12:45 in the afternoon, with thunderstorms off in the distance. I started off with topwater, chatter baits, and a frog thinking with the cloud cover, and topwater would be on. No luck. I switch to a pink wacky rig fishing a few feet off the cattails. No luck. I could hear the fish deep in the grass and starting to throw inches from the grass, and bam! It was on. All my fish were heavy hawgs. Some appeared to still have eggs, but I don’t think so. I had a few regurgitate some pretty big bait fish. All fish came from the boathouse side of the lake just as they have the last five trips out to Black Hat. I really enjoy this lake beyond the fishing no fish pictures since I was alone, but nice views.
