Cold and wet is the best way to describe the morning on Salt Lick. We launched the boat to 51 degrees air temps, light rain, and an east wind; all the signs to stay home and enjoy some coffee.

We started off casting a diving frog hoping some fish might be hanging in the grass and not paying attention to the weather. After 20 mins and nothing but a few swipes from small fish, we switched to a chartreuse and white clouser fished on an intermediate sinking line. We picked up a few unders on the east side of the lake. They were hanging tight to the grass. The big fish of the day was caught about ten feet of the bank in 6 feet of water. She was pushing four pounds and gave a good fight on a six weight rod.

We called it a day at 10:30 and left to find hot coffee and a dry spot out of the wind and rain.

A side note for launching a boat. I had to back the boat pretty far down the ramp to get the bunks wet. The rear tires were wet, so if your launching a boat, take a buddy to help so you can stay dry. The gravel ramp was nice, so no need for four wheel drive.
