My 18 year old daughter and I fished in Neches on 4/14/23. First, we stopped early at Van’s Grocery for some sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits, as the description suggested, and they were darn good! The property is only two minutes away from Van’s.

We used the Jon boat, which looked brand new. Barry, the property owner came down to greet us, and he was an incredibly gracious host. We started along the banks with Whopper Ploppers, and had some success with the dinks. Later in the morning, we were using Senkos, and my daughter lost one at the boat that was at least five pounds, maybe pushing six. We continued to catch a lot of dinks. These are real dinks, like eight inches. We culled about 20 on the day. Probably mid afternoon, we were fishing by the boat house, and I saw a little activity near the bank. I cast there with a Senko, and landed a 6-15! My daughter also landed a 4-0 at the shallow end of the lake. We did get a few others in the 2.5-3.5 range, mostly on Senkos, but some on crank baits.

Late afternoon, we fished the far bank away from the boathouse. Mostly all we got were nibbles on our Senkos, presumably from bluegill. If someone went in there with a fly rod with some streamers, or a Ned rig, between the dinks and the bluegill you could have a 100 fish day easily. And there is always the prospect of getting a Big 'Un!

Barry was an incredibly gracious host on a very nice property. I would like to return again with some different equipment for some incredible action!
