Member John Bedore and I fished at Post Oak on Saturday 4/15 for 5 /12 hours starting at 9:45 AM.  It looks like we caught the club boat in the middle of a seat upgrade as there was a new seat sitting in the rear of the on-site Pondtoon boat.  We could not figure out how to place the seat on the pedestal.  John stacked a couple of life preservers on the rear pedestal and we were off to the races.

The weather was clearing from a big storm that blew through bit it did not seem to affect the bite at all.  We caught mostly solid fish with three large bass like the one pictured thrown in for good measure.  The wind was gusty early and settled down as the day wore on.  The grass is just beginning to be an issue on the side of the lake opposite the launch.

Water color was good and the weather was great.  We always love getting out to this beautiful ranch.  Thank you to the owners for allowing us to fish on this beautiful lake!

Hi Bruce – My brother and I have this lake reserved for April 25 and we have never been there, so could you give us more details about your fishing experience?  Lures used, techniques, etc?

Thanks!

Hello Eric!  You picked a great lake.

We used lipless crankbaits fished 4-5 feet deep on the launch side where the grass was not as prevalent.  We used swimjigs, chatterbaits and soft plastic on the opposite shore where it is more grassy.  Greens, browns and reds seemed to be the preferred colors here.  The topwater bite should be on by the time of your fishing trip and this lake can be crazy then.  I have had great luck fishing Por-r’s, Zara spooks and Whopper Ploppers all over the lake as the grass will be just under the surface by then lake wide.
