Fished Tuesday afternoon with another member. First trip since the new ownership and the site map showed a new and greatly improved approch to the lake. I never go to a lake that is new to me the first time in the morning. This lake was a perfect example. The road in to the property is a great all weather road but as we got into the property there was a Y in the road and going left took us to barn/house complex so we went right which took us to a home construction site. Went back to the fork and entered the lake GPS location and were directed to the barn/house area. Once we got there we saw the lake and made our way to the launch area, we could tell it was a launch because rancher’s dad’s boat was there.. This was at the corner of the dam and not where the site map shows. This whole process eat up about 30 to 40 minutes.
The lake is full and clear with vegetation but not much of a problem at this point even fishing with a chatter/bait. We caught 42 bass , with the largest 3 lbs and eight removed. Also 4 crappie on the chatter/bait.The bass were mostly post spawn with very few in the grass along the shore line.We did not catch any with fat bellies full of eggs. Most of our fish were out 20 to 30 ft from the shore line but still in the 3 to 4 foot debth. They were scattered. Our best results were on 5” wat/red and marti gras yum dingers fished both wacky and tx rig. Some on lizards and pump/chrt but almost nothing on 4” baits. As it got towards late evening the chatter/bait was very effective fan casting.
When we drove in we saw donkeys and shortly thereafter we saw lot of donkeys. I have never seen so many not even in pictures. The owners father ,who is a crappie catching machine, told us that this a donkey refuge area. They can be very loud !!

Hi Joe,
Sorry about the launch confusion. The owner is doing a lot of work around the place and moved the boat launch to the corner of the dam. We were not aware of the change and we spoken to the owner and updated the map.
Glad you caught 42!
