We had the pleasure of fishing Paradise Compound on Saturday under pretty much ideal conditions weather-wise. Sure made for an enjoyable day at a wonderful property. This place is a very pretty getaway with a completely tree-lined lake and a huge, sturdy boat house where you can just tie up the boat and enjoy a lunch break, etc. Pam and I met the owner as we were wrapping up for the day and he was extremely hospitable and just genuinely hoped that we had enjoyed our day. We’ll definitely be back sometime.
We didn’t catch any of the “tanks” that we know live in these tea-stained east Texas waters. But we did keep ourselves busy with 40 harvesters and 7 additional bass that we released. The largest two were 4.75 and 4.25 lbs. If we would have downsized to a Ned rig or a beetle-spin type spinner, we could have doubled that number, but the two 4 lbers kept our hopes up that any cast could land a very memorable fish. So, we stuck with a 4.3 belly weighted shad paddletail and a white T-rigged creature craw for the most part – while picking up another combo “or three” to just see if we could trigger anything else. The bite was subtle and non-committed, even on the few larger fish. We saw several beds – empty and some clouds of fry.
The lake is full to the brim and rimmed with incredible looking shoreline cover – so many targets to cast to! The water was 60F upon arrival and 66F at its peak. The visibility was 30IN and tea stained. The lake floor seems rather bowl shaped with depths to 14FT on the lower end. There wasn’t too much else in the form of structure and I didn’t really run across any strong arcs on the fish finder, so we just kept plugging away at the bank hoping for any solid bite. We know they are there – the owner even has a few replicas in the boat house of a few true giants that he has caught in the lake in the past.
Many thanks to PWF and the owner for sharing this wonderful property.

Mark,
thanks for taking the time to post a report with pictures. The lake has a few tanks and lots of smaller bass. Like you said the tanks in the lake keep your interest enough to let you work throught the small bass. We really really need to harvest here. Thanks for doing your part by harvesting 40. We need about 25 more trips like this, this year and next year and we will see those fish go from 12” to 16”-17”
Thanks Again!
