Today was a day to remember. My son Cleve and I had planned a long awaited trip since he had a few days away from work and we had decided upon a day at Double A and a Day at Hat and Star, hoping he might be able to top his personal best of 7lb3oz. We got what we hoped for. The day at Double A started with a cold front that had come in with cold temperatures and windy conditions. I had anticipated a slowly worked A Rig would do there but I had no takers on the A Rig in the first hour and a half. On the other hand my son had boated 8 bass on a Junehug colored Finese TRD Ned Rig. After I made the switch to the Ned Rig and made my first cast, he loaded up on the 8 pounder. Catching such a fish in deep water on a medium spinning rod makes for a lot of fun. About an hour later at 11:30 he hooked into another good fish. After numerous deep runs and some serious head shakes, he boated an even larger bass. It measured 25 ¾ inches on our check it stick and weighed 9lbs14oz. The action slowed by 12:30 pm so we decided to go into town for lunch. The owner Joe, drove over to say hi and check on our success and eas thrilled to see the pictures of those two big bass. He talked in depth about the Shad, Tilspia, and Shiners that had been planted for forage. The plan is working. The Bass we caught today were very healthy. Joe told us where to go for a great lunch. After our return, we went right back to casting the Ned Rigs along the weed lines and in the lakes underwater ridge. It was a blast and not expected in the midst of a cold front. Thanks to Joe and the great folks at PWF. It was such a special day for me to see my son boat those big ones!

One year ago I had a similar day on AA, one of the best days of my fishing life. Congrats on the almost DD. I bet she was easily over during the first spawn and after she fattens up feeding to regain her strength. Those are the hardest fighting fish in the club, pound for pound.
