My friend and I fished Thursday after a few cold weather days prior, and on our day we enjoyed a good drizzly morning followed by partly-cloudy skies and a high in the mid-eighties. The vegetation is almost all gone, so the lake fishes big. The huge carp are abundant and apparently spawning, especially way up in the north shallow areas. Right at sunset a big front hit, almost blowing us off the water.  Having two trolling motors on the boat saved our bacon

The new “cabin” is nice and sleeps a lot of people.  The roads are in good shape.  The boat was clean and charged up for us, and it worked very well – very easy to use and very roomy.  You might want to bring an anchor, though. The ranch is beautiful, especially this time of year.  We chatted briefly with the friendly ranch foreman.

In the morning we found bass in the mood to chase our chatter and spinners, mainly way back on the NW shoreline straight out from the launch.  They were holding very tight to the shoreline, and we had success casting close to shore and parrallel.  After lunch the sun and strong winds arrived, so we had to anchor and fish, anchor and fish, repeat.  Fishing that afternoon was slow, with lizards and grubtail jig producing best.  We were hoping that sunset would pick up, but the bite stayed off.  Not a bad day, however, and a wonderful, remote property!
