Wife and I decided to visit east Texas on Sunday afternoon at Sandy Creek Ranch, what a beautiful place. Manacured meadows with towering pine trees, redbuds and dogwoods blooming with a tea stained lake. Owners have a quaility place that is the real deal. Now about the fishing. The big lake by the house Lake #1. Water temp was 66 degrees visabilty was 18” lake was full as the morning glory was draining water out. Found most of the fish moving up towards the flats and creeks on the north end. Fish caught ranged in size on this lake from 2-4 lbs. Big one cought on a buzzfrog as it passed over a log, hit it hard! We fished from around 1:30 to 4:00 on the that lake. Moved to Lake #3 to see more of the property and fish that last lake. Now this lake was easlily 4’ low as the dock (which has been improved) is completly out of the water. There are plenty of places for the fish with grass growing on the bottom and some points drop offs. However, you did not need to look for these dinks. We both used swimbaits with paddletails and they wanted them. Fished for about an hour and half and caught 34 all culls under a pound. You could almost here the other fish say thank you. These fish need something to eat. In the low light towards the sunset they were trying to eat the nats on the water, really something. Kept thinking there has to be a big fish in here, never found it. But again the senery is outstanding.
Big thanks to the landowner for letting our club on these lakes. Everyone that gets on this property needs to spend an hour harvesting from Lake #3. A few pics of Lake #1 below.
