Sunday, February 12 from 11a-6p. Air temp 45-65 degrees, South wind 5-10, water temp 47-50. Good water clarity 18-24”.
I brought a couple buddies with me with their 18’ Ranger fiberglass and launching was a piece of cake. Used livescope to find brush, boulders, dropoffs and roaming crappie. Our goal was to focus on crappie for the freezer, and tangle with some bass too. We caught over 40 slabs and threw back 3 or 4 that were over 2#. The best bass bite was in the NW corner of pond (opposite of launch) where the water was a little warmer. Dragging brown/red colored bass jigs (small profile with subtle trailer) slowly on the bottom produced the best results. We spoted several schools of bass with the livescope but they were hard to keep up they were moving so fast. They would hit small baits if you could get it in front of them. Otherwise, most of the bass were cruising the bottom. It was a great day on a great property! Can’t wait to go back!
***Special thanks to the Salt Lick landowner and Scott at PWF for being so accomidating, professional and personalble.***
