Reservation Number : 34376
Property Name : Sandy Creek Ranch
Reservation Date : 11/25/2022 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 94
Lures Used : Almost everything

Second time for me to Sandy Creek. Took my dad, brother-in-law and sister fishing the day after Thanksgiving and had a blast. Started at the first pond and fished from 9A until about 2:30P. Caught 11 in the first pond between the 4 of us. Most on wacky worms. We caught several crappie, most had some nice size to them. Returned every fish caught here.

We moved on to the third pond for the last couple hours of the day and caught 83 total with 69 culls. Caught them on everything from topwater, jerkbaits, spinner baits, jigs, wacky worms. One of us had Livescope on the kayak and some fish still wouldn’t bite in the third pond. They were all healthy looking. Saw a ton of baitfish swimming in the shallow water on the third pond. I’m not convinced that they’re starving, maybe just overstocked and young fish.

Love this place and had a lot of fun.

Awesome – Happy Thanksgiving! Looks like you are a new member, so wanted to say welcome to the club.

A little perspective – a bass will eat about 500 bluegill per year that are a 1/3 its size on average.  Whether they are ‘starving’ or not, you saved 35,000 bluegill to go into a smaller group of bass so they can grow larger, which also translates to about $25,000-$40,000 in forage costs.

Matt – way to show the family a great time!

Joshua – I always appreciate your input as a lake owner yourself. Please don’t stop adding your insight. I’m also glad to see that harvesting has been inacted for the 3rd lake – based on my sole visit to Sandy Creek.

Thanks y’all,

Mark

Thanks Mark, everyone had a blast!! I think this is where i’ll introduce my 7 year old daughter to fishing. I’ve been slow to bring her to the lake because I want her to enjoy it. I know a 7 year old won’t enjoy spending 8 hours on the water to get just a few bites. The third lake here could be the perfect place though.
