Reservation Number : 34309
Property Name : Double A Lake
Reservation Date : 11/19/2022 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 17
Lures Used : Swim bait, blade bait, drop shot

The other two contenders for the report title were “Not a Talapia” and “North Texas Redfish” but the elusive golden bass won by a narrow margin.  Ok so it's just a carp but it was fun nonetheless as I tail hooked it on light line.

Started the day off pretty cold, guessing low 30s, overcast with 9mph wind. Fished from sun-up to sun-down and caught 17 for the day on blade bait, swimbait, and drop shot. Smaller ones came on a drop shot and blade bait was the winner.  Caught 3 in the 5lbs range, a couple 4 pounders, some 3s and 2 pounders as well.  I did pick up 4 along the weedline but the larger fish were all deep hanging around the shad schools.  Below are a couple pics of the shad balls and the second image (blurry) is cool because you can see the arc of a bass busting the bait.  The first image is a solid shad ball….... but not as long as it appears in the photo because I am in a kayak traveling at a pretty slow pace and the image is smeared.   My lesson learned for the day is if planning on catching bigger fish swap out the stock hooks for some quality gear.  I missed a couple nice fish back-to-back then realized one treble was completely bent out and the other was broken. Luckily I had a fresh pack on hand and that saved me.  Got to chat with Joe for awhile and always nice to see him at the lake.
