Reservation Number : 33758
Property Name : Double A Lake
Reservation Date : 09/10/2022 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 16 great bass up to 6.18 lbs
Lures Used : Berkly Power Worms, flat sided cranks, chatter baits, Zoom Brush Hog

Started fishing right at sunrise with a hollow body frog. Got one blowup that missed the bait. I'm usually the one missing these blowups, but this time the bass just had bad aim. I tried chatter baits with no luck and switched to a blue fleck power worm. Caught several on it. When that bite slowed I switched to a black/grape power worm. Just a couple in the black/grape. I fell Balc on my reliable watermelon red brush hog and again caught several.

I noticed several times that bass were chasing shad on the surface so I tied on a shad flat sided crank and if I was close enough three it at the churning water. These episodes only last 20 or 30 seconds so you have to be relatively close to fish them. I was lucky and the 6 pounder came off of one of these. They chase shad all over the lake, but mainly along the east and north parts of the lake. I also caught a couple on the steep rocky part of the ridge toward the north end.

Thanks for the report! I'm going to Double A on the 26th and I can't wait! How's the water clarity?

I'd say it was 2-3 feet Saturday. You'll have a great day at AA! Joe, the owner, will come to see you around noon. Pick his mind. He talks to everyone and knows the best spots to catch fish. Joe says the fish in AA fight above their weight and he's right!

Aswesome. Thanks for the info. I thought it might be fairly clear since it's a rock quarry.

John,

Thanks for the report – I am headed out this weekend.  What depth of water did you bag most of your fish?  Any pattern to this?

Scott, I didn't catch any shallow. Most were caught in the northeast part of the lake in 12-15 feet of water with a few a little deeper on the steep side of the ridge. Most caught on dark power worms and my trusty Brush Hog in Watermelon Red Fleck.
