Boated 28 between 7:30 and 12:30 and missed probably 10 more. I fished the right bank as others said in the AM. Tried a whopper plopper early with no bites. Then switched to a 5” paddle tail t-rigged with 1/8oz and 5/0 hook. Caught a few throwing to the matted grass and working back. This died down pretty quickly and I switched to a niko rigged wacky. I caught probably 20 of the 28 on a wacky yum dinger in various colors. Most of the bass were sitting about 10-15 yds off the matted grass line on the drop off where it drops from 5-8’. There’s a ton of wood underwater so the bass don’t really seem to hang tight to any of the trees you can see. I tried fishing a drop shot out in the trees but never got bit. Last 30 minutes I went down to the damn and others had said this wasn’t very productive, but it was for me. I caught 4 and lost a couple in that short time.

Big issue was launching and coming back. It was pretty tough getting the boat down the hill and all my gear loaded. But coming back was the adventure. The mud at the shore is like quick sand. It’s really shallow coming in so come in fast and get as far up the shore as you can. When I stepped out my foot sunk up to my ankle in mud. To get out of the jon boat, I put my net on top of the mud and stepped on that and it acted kind of like a snow shoe and I was able to get out, get unloaded, and get the boat back up the hill. Not easy for a man in his 60’s.
