Property was easy to access, quite, and very beautiful (herd of deer with a few bucks, doe, and fawn at boat launch when we pulled up).
Launched just after sunrise, lots of visible activity on the surface, but not topwater bites. Lots (I mean lots) of crappie visible on the scope, but little to no bass from what we could tell. Bite was finicky most of the day. First catch (crappie) just after 7am, then pretty dead till ~11:15am with a few more. Worked the lake to find pockets; most active spot was the dropoff around the south west peninsula. One very small/under slot bass caught. Tried a variety of presentations, but underspin/small swim baits and chartreuse/white bushwhacker (fly) with slow retrieve got the most bites. Weedless presentations worked best with the grass beds.
Water temp 85-89. Sunny, but nice breeze and clouds. Murky water clarity w/ ~3-5” visibility. Water level is low and close to boat ramp edge so retrieving the boat was a bit challenging due to the angle.
All-in-all a great day on the water with a bit cooler weather than of late.
