Reservation Number : 33207
Property Name : Double A Lake
Reservation Date : 07/10/2022 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 14/ One at 2lbs the rest 4 lbs to 6.5 Lbs
Lures Used : Frogs, brush hogs, swim baits, deep diving crankbaits

Fished the morning from 7:15 am to about 12:30 and then from 4:30 until about 8:30 pm.  Really strikes coming at all times.  Lots of fish at the surface chasing baitfish. Extremely hot day but we fished hard, they really made us work for it.  First time fishing this lake really different...no dam...no creeks and absolutley no shade!!  All structure is under the surface with the exception of the grass beds around the lakes edge.  You can pretty much figure the water drops off at the edge to somewhere between 15 feet and 30 feet.  Had some success on swim baits coming out of the grass beds.  We also had some success with deep diving crankbaits. A few blowups on the frog...man need to learn how to set the hook here.  Lost 7-9 fish after hookset.  This might have happend because these fish are healthy of good size and fight hard.  If you hook it almost guranteed to be 4+ pounds!  Anyway, interesting fishing using only your electronics to see the humps and flats.  Enjoyed the day with my son.  Did speak to Joe the owner very nice guy and helpful.  Thanks Joe and PWF for opportunity to fish this lake.  Wondering about springtime and where these fish will spawn as there is very limited areas for shollow water.  I look forward to that.  A few pics below of the typical fish.

The grass pulls back in winter a lot. In spring as it comes back the bass spawn in 3-6ft down in the grass. April was one of the best fishing days of my life there. They hit in the grass and headed out to deep water. Grass thin enough to let that happen, man that was fun. 8.82, 7, couple 6’s (one broke a rod of mine), several 4-6’s. Those fish fight valiantly, and do not like getting stuck in the face. Toght line!

Bruce,

Catching 13 bass from 4-6.5 lbs sounds like a day that 90% of fisherman dream about. congratulations on a heck of a good day of fishing. Double A is a lake designed to kick out big fish.

Yes sir I agree.  If I could cut down the ones that got away would have added to the day. My frog fishing is pitiful.  I think I react to soon and do not give the bass time to swallow if that makes sense.
