Reservation Number : 33143
Property Name : Lakota Lake
Reservation Date : 07/03/2022 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 26 - Biggest 3.9 &3.5 # Rest in the 2 # range
Lures Used : Pop-R, Whopper Plopper, Senco

Good day on Lakota lake – fished from sunrise until around noon when the heat ran us off.  We caught 26 fish total with the biggest being 3.9 & 3.5 lbs, and the rest being in the 2lbs range.  All of them were caught either along the shore/grass line or around the Brush piles.

Topwater:  The topwater bite lasted from sunrise until 9 to 9:30 – the shape of the lake combined with the East Texas trees creates lots of shaded shoreline that stretches the mornining bite a little.  The successful baits were Senco, wopper plopper, & Pop-R which caught the biggest fish of the day.

Success the rest of the day was concentrated around the Brush Piles & Stickups with a few dinks taken off the grass lines.  Senco’s were the only thing that produced consistent bites.  We completely struck out in the deeper areas and holes throwing a little bit of everything – rattletraps, chatterbait, square bill, crank baits, Carolina rigged worms & creatures.

Overall it was a pretty good day!

To add to Rick's post….

Pic of big fish for the day….3.90lb.

Also, pic of Gravel Boat Ramp. And yes….its capable of launching full size bass boat fairly easily.

Ps…Water temps ranged from 85 at sunrise to 87 at Noon. Tea-colored, fairly clear.

I would like to see a bass boat being launched there before I tried it. I have been several times fishing here, but think more rock needs to be put there a bit deeper. I would hate to get stuck since the gravel doesn’t look to be deep enough in the water and the mud is soft. They spread some rock in the parking area but sure would like to see more rock in the launch itself. Great for kayak, but I would be sceptable launching my bass boat there. Would be nice though if practical.

I can appreciate your concerns, Dale.  As we were a bit sceptical too when we arrived at dawn.  But…is it "do-able"....certainly, yes (but then again, Im not in a $100k, 21-foot Bass Cat, either…Ha!!).  Is it perfect/ideal….no.  Could it use a little work, more rock…..sure.

Good luck fellas, and tight lines!

Thanks Brian. Yes, that is my problem. I have a 21’ Vexus instead and is pretty much reserved for the big lakes. I will continue with my kayak, but, would be nice to bring the Vexus since that lake would do a bass boat justice. I knew that however when I bought my bass boat, and reason I kept the kayaks. I would however try it if ramp had rocks deeper, but definately not complaining about it.
