I was looking for a catfish pond in the dfw area. They were already booked for the holiday weekend. Found one 2 hours up in Oklahoma. We were supposed to fish Simon Creek but ended up fishing willow lake down the road. I had initially booked Simon for catfishing with a buddy but somehow it had campers on the same day. I guess it wasn't blocked out that day I booked. Anyways we were given the option to fish the much smaller pond on the other side. Got there around 4 pm after missing a couple of turns. The water level was probably at least 5-6' low and it had thick moss and grass around the perimeter. It was tough to fish from the bank because the grass extended 10-20' out. We tried catfishing for a couple of hours with no bites. Then I told my buddy let's try bass fishing. I backed my 14' jon boat and trailer down to the water but the water was too shallow. I ended up just pushing the jon boat off the end of the trailer bunks. Luckily, it was light enough since it doesn't have an outboard motor. Anyways, the water temp was 87 and the deepest depth was 9.4'. The pond was at most 5 acres. We got to fish a couple of hours and was able to catch 8 bass. Biggest was 21" and very skinny. My buddy was disappointed since he didn't catch catfish or bass. Verdict...Unless they get a lot of rain, it would be impossible to book this place again.

Your report detailing the water level at Willow saved me what would have been a wasted trip. Thank you
