Fished a half day with son Michael as a Fathers Day gift. Water was clear to 4’, light breeze, partly cloudy and mild. Started at dawn frog fishing and caught 4 in the first 20 minutes. Started along the east bank and worked our way around the lake. Sun up good we switched to Chatterbaits and kept on catching. We caught bass everywhere including in the middle of the lake! Biggest was a 5.7 on a white frog. Michael finally broke his 3.5 pound PB with a beautiful 4.5 pounder on a Jackhammer Chatterbait. We were both excited over that. We caught about 40 with only 2 under 14” which we removed.
The lake was not as mossy as I expected so we used a variety of lures. We did lose quite a few fish especially the ones that dove deep into the moss. The area south of the boat ramp is very fishable except the southernmost tip and the creek inlet.
One very odd thing, Michael's big bass had what looked like a tail sticking out of her gut. Turns out it was probably a young nutria (looked like a mouse or small rat but nutria seems more likely).
It turned out to be the best fishing day either of us has had in a long time. A great Fathers Day gift for both of us.
And thanks to PWF and the owner for making this fabulous property available to us!
