My son and I fished with my cousin who drove up from Beaumont to join us. We got on the water around 7:20 and within the first 30 mins. we boated a 3 and a 4 pounder. All said and done, the three of us boated around 30 bass (up to 5 ½ lbs.), and 25 really nice crappie. All but a couple of the bass were caught in deeper water near the overflow. The “baits of the day” were  white or shad colored jerk baits, white 4” swim bait on a jig head, and white spinner baits with multiple blades. Word to the wise, be careful of the heat! I made the mistake of getting dehydrated, not a good feeling! We called it quits at 2:00, should have been 1:00!  The water level is down a good 4’ from our last trip here in late May, ½ of the lake (opposite the dam), is super shallow ...under 3 feet in many places!!! Typical for these small lakes and ponds during a drought. Love ths place, it is one of my club favs!
