This was a memorable day to be out fishing with my Son, and he earned the title of “Fisherman”. We did not catch any wall hangers, but he caught the most. Not to mention the four that got away, so would not have been close. He was up 4 to zero when I started making my comeback, but I fell short. The final score was 8 to 5. The lake’s water level is definitely down. It took some effort to lauch the on-site jon boat where the bank was not to steep or muddy, We decided on a spot about 40 yards away from where the jon boat was resting. Two man carry down to the water and then seperate trips to load up the boat. Had to watch our step as the ground was very uneven with many divits and holes made by where the cows had been walking. Tread carefully as there is high potential to twist an ankle or worst. The water visibilty was at about 10 feet, slight breeze, and sunny with occasional clouds. The lake still has plently of depth and could not see the bottom once past the weedline. The lake could be divided into two parts a deeper water area and a flats area. We fished from about 8:30am to 4:00pm. Started throwing the Whopper Plopper, Buzzbait, and Techel Sprinkler Frog for about an hour with no success. Then switched over to Keitech Swing Impact and Fat Impact in sizes 2.8, 3.3 and 3.8 with ocassionally throwing the Techel, Berkely Power Worm, and 5.8 Keitech with underspin for the rest of the day. Weeds were thick mostly along the banks and shallow water. Caught all the fish casting out from the weed line to deeper water. All were caught on the Keitech Swing Impact and Fat Impact in sizes 2.8, 3.3 and 3.8. I did not have a fishfinder and would like to fish this lake again with a fish finder to check out the deeper water. Really felt the hot weather when we carried the john boat back up to its resting place and loading up all the gear for the trip home. Note there is no pavilion or covered area close by like some of the other lakes so recommend bringing a pop up shade canopy if going to take a mid-day break. Even with the hot weather it was great to be out fishing, and can’t wait for the next fishing trip!
