Sure is nice having quality lakes within a 45 min drive and as usual Salt Lick didn't disappoint. Made a same day reservation and got on the water around 5pm. Only fished for a couple hours and found fish everywhere.  Started in 14ft of water and quickly found fish on some boulders and picked up 4.  For the short time I was there caught bass on the weedline, open water and timber.  Size was generally 1 to 3lbs and usually picked up 3 at a time. As the sun was setting found a school of shad in the corner, surrounded by a pack of 1 – 2 pounders. Caught another 3 or 4 in a couple minutes but had to get the kayak loaded while it was still light.   Lost 2 becuse of laziness and should have retied sooner.
