Fished Deer Trail with another member Thursday morning. We arrived early and started catching fish immediately.. He paddled up the boat ramp side and I took the east side.We both started catching bass immediately .We had a light breeze which helped maintaining our kayak position and ability to milk a productive area. Early the bass were shallow along the edge of the lily pads and grass. Flukes and weightless tx rig worms worked great while throwing a 5” wacky a little bit further out was productive. They liked wat/seed ,pumpkin/chrt and marti gras. Wat/red was not productive. My friend threw a rattle trap a few times without a strike and that was the only crank bait attempted.

We caught a total of 79 bass, the largest was 4 lbs and 28 were removed. Also caught one huge crappie which was also removed. We did better in the lower section ( ramp area ) but likely because we were there for the early morning bite plus the wind and heat did pick up when we reached the dam area.

Lake is full & visibility of 24”
