A group of 6, three members and three guests caught 220 fish, with 3 fish over 7 lbs. on Saturday 4/10. They had their own tournament with 3 groups of 2. Each group weighed their best 5 fish and each had a sack of 25 lbs or better.  Three of the six stayed and fished a 1/2 day on Sunday and destroyed them again with several fish over 5 lbs.  Simply an awesome day at San Saba. Most fish were caught in shallow water on wacky Senkos. Jon Waters, who entered the clubs Big Bass tournament caught a 7.3 and is now leading Private Water Fishing’s Big Bass tournament. A 7.3 fish will not hold up as big fish, so please make sure you enter our Big Bass Tournament. It is only $20.00 and has a 100% payout.

okay Waters, I’m comin after you. I will be fishing Saba this week Tuesday and Wednesday. Very tricky you guys going just before I do…That’s okay. This big bass tournament is way too much fun. So what do I need…A 7.4, really that’s it? Stay tuned..
Hey you guys and gals, (My wife made me say that). There are a lot of lakes in the club that produce huge bass this time of year. So get out there and catch em.

I’m looking forward to the fish fry at Six-O on May 1st. This would be a great time to meet members and the new
owners of the club. Come on sign up! Let’s support Steve Alexander and the rest of the Private Waters team for the effort they are putting forth to make our club the best ever.

Don,

Thanks for the encouragement and we do need your support at the fish frys. The fish frys are not only a great value for you $30.00 for all day fishing, but you help us help you by harvesting some much needed fish from our club lakes. It is also a great way to meet some members of the club.

Hey Steve.  Wondering what condition the water was in.  I fished San Saba in mid March and have never seen the lake water in that bad a condition.  When we arrived it was like chocolate milk and didn’t clear any in the 24 hours we were there.  Just wondering if things have cleared up a bit?  My suspicion is that with all the rain they had there over the winter and spring, that the ground was so saturated that it was all just running directly into the lake.  We caught next to no fish in those conditons obviously and no signs of any fish on beds.

Doug,

The water clarity is perfect about 18”. When you were there in March the run off had the clairty at about 12” or less. A note about water clarity. Often people think that clear water is a good thing. It is not. Clear water is unfertile water. Unfertile/clear water is void of plant (phytoplankton) and animal (zooplankton) life. This is why we fertilize many of our lakes is to add “life” into the water column and to reduce water visiblity which blocks out sunlight; slowing down the abudance of vegatation in lakes.
