Sensational for sure, Al! My 14 year-old son and I are fishing here at the end of the month and would love to give him a sensational experience. Any advice on specfic baits or spots that were really productive? Thanks in advance

Hi Merlin,

I think Hickory Creek is the best lake in the club to take your son. This lake is very productive and predictable. I like to fish with a drop shot rig and z man brand baits in the junebug color. It works every time and since the hook can be exposed, your son will hook up on the fish just about every time. When fishing drop shot rigs, you get the fun of feeling the tap, tap, tap, before setting the hook. If you launch and go straight across the lake, opposite the launching site, fish in 2-7 feet of water. Drift aloing the shoreline moving towards the island. There are always alot of fish along this shoreline. Fish around the island. Depending on the wind direction you will definitely catch alot of fish and giant bluegills around the island. There is a slightly deeper channel that runs in front of the pier all the way down to the island. The crappie hang out in that channel. You can simply drift slowly down the middle of the lake and catch tons of crappie as well as bass. When the weather really heats up, that channel can be great for the bass too. Good luck on your upcoming trip down to Hickory Creek. Count on a great time. The bass are so much larger there than they were a couple of years ago. The clubs harvesting plan has worked.
