With my brother in Port Aransas, I took on Tarpley by myself.  I wish I’d arrived earlier because all but one fish were caught between 9:00 and 10:00am.  My third cast of a topwater frog scored a 2.5 pounder.  Four culls followed.  Then the bite died and the rest of the day was spent trying everything in the tackle box to no avail.  If not for the beautiful setting, I wouldn’t have lasted to 3:30.  In fairness, since I was by myself I chose not to use a boat.  I probably got to 70% of the lake but was severely limited by the thick grass along the shore that rings almost the entire lake.  Although it was a tough day, I’m still glad to have made the trip.
