My 5 year old grandson has been wanting to go camping for the longest.  So we set the date for when his Dad finish his last Navy school on Friday. My brother's decided they wanted to go as well and bring their kids and grand kids as well. The 2 other brother's couldn't commit because of the chance of rain but member Roderick Alford  stayed with it. The plan was to camp and fish half day on Friday all day Saturday and leave Sunday,  Well life happens and plans had changed again. My son was going to be driving 5hrs from Gulfport MS and meet me and his son in Shreveport,  LA to drive to Hickory Creek Ranch but his 2 new born twins decided to come early  and changed plans. So my grandson and 7 year old nephew (Roderick grandson) and I hit the road finally. We didn't get a chance to fish Friday at all and setting up a tent with headlights and flashlights was a challenge but we did it.  Now for the fun, we got up around 6:30am and hit the big lake up front not knowing if an event was going to happen or not. My son surprised his son and me by showing up as well. We let the kids fish from the pier and bank for bream just to get them started and they had a blast. We got geared up to get in the boat and all I can say is Wow. We went straight across from the pier in the pocket with frogs tied on for them and the Bass did not disappoint.  My Grandson caught a 4 pounder all by himself and that smile could not go away. I was so proud of my grandson and nephew for encouraging each other to hold the fish and getting the net to net the fish. My nephew caught his 5 pounder in the back lake and just got them both excited even more. Due to the thunder and lightning we decided to call it quits and pack up and leave.  I don't want to continue to bore everyone with the story but this trip was Amazing and as always unforgettable memories made. This is the reason we joined Private Water Fishing. Thank you!!!!!

Unforgettable memories is exactly why I joined PWF too, Terrence! Hoping to make some with my teenage son on our upcoming trip. We’ll definitely hit the big lake pocket across from the pier. Did you use hollow-body frogs? We’ll be camping too. Any bait or spot advice for the back lake?

Merlin you will make plenty of memories.  Yes we uses hollow body frogs thrown right on the bank in the grass and pop it out. Also bottle spins in orange  curly tail with yellow and black body works great also. The back lake biggest fish was caught on a weed less  pink trick worm and top water frogs worked best also because it's a lot of grass but alot very fishy areas. Good luck this property is beautiful.
