I fished Lakota Lake by myself Wednesday, 4/13. This lake requires two to fish but my partner backed out and I was left with the bill! (He’s still my friend though.) The morning began with strong winds, cloudy and threatening rain. There is a pretty good launch area and an adjacent area to park. The lake is huge by PWF standards and is not really able to be fished properly in a day, in my opinion. I began throwing a small bluegill spinnerbait and had almost no success, so I tied on a white chatterbait with a pumkin auger tail and began catching. That bait seems to work well with rainy and blustery weather. I also stumbled on to some crappie and spent a considerable part of the day with them. White roadrunner worked for the crappie, and stick baits were the best thing for bass after the wind began to settle down. I also caught bass on Pop R, square bill and grubtail on ¼ oz wide-gap head. Totals: 44 LMB with 4 just barely under 4 lbs; 29 crappie to 15”.
This is a beautiful, wild and remote property. I will definitely be back!
