Fellow member John Shepard and I decided it was time to return to Cold Springs knowing the wind forecast was 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts. Our hopes was that the trees and terrain would offer us some protection but not the case. We arrived at daybreak to find pretty breazy conditions blowing sideways left to right across the boat launch area. We decided to go up the east arm. Did not catch anything close to the bank and went as far as we could stopping and anchoring up as we went. By 10:30 we had about 15 mostly on drop shot, crig and shakey head fishing in the middle of the channel. The wind was howling now and the creek arms served as wind tunnels making it difficult to hold a spot even with the anchor. We were also mindfull of a previous report claiming large branches snapping and falling into the creek on another windy day. We tried to go up the west arm but same as the east side it was like fishing in a wind tunnel and with same concern of tree branches falling we decided  to stay out in the open water. We tried to use the wind to our advantage but it was still a challenge to hold a spot for very long  as the wind gusts were over 25 mph and pushing us around pretty badly.(probably needed a longer rope on our anchor due to the deeper than avg water depths of this tank) Best spot we found was anchoring up at the entrance to the east arm casting distance upwind of the aerator and throwing plastics with the wind around the aerator. Once we were pushed passed the aerator we would pickup anchor, set up again upwind and start over catching the most and bigger fish doing this pattern.

We ended the day with 35 nice healthy bass from 12 to 19 inches and 5 huge bream. We got to see a couple of eagles fly over us and they would perch in the tall pines to watch us. John liked to tease them by holding his catch up high asking them if they were hungry.  All in all a great day to be out doing what we love to do.
