The pictured bass and 4 or 5 others between 18” and 20.75” were caught around the largest pieces of timber at The Bigwoods on the Trinity during a relatively short period on Tuesday afternoon. This one is 20.75” and 5.42# and was caught on a green Yum Pulse paddletail underspin. (See Ron Dupree’s report for more details of our trip.) Despite the lake being about 3 feet low, there are numerous depth changes to target in addition to the laydowns and tree trunks.  Moving baits were our best producer but Carolina-rigged craws worked around the timber. These fish were very hard fighters and all made a big final surge before being landed. Most of the moving baits ended up deep in the mouth rather than being hooked at the edge or even outside the mouth.  No trophies this trip but very solid bass and only two less than 16”.  Lots of fun.
