First time to fish Long Lake on Jan 17^th.  Weather started out cold in the 30’s but warmed up to near 60 by afternoon with blue bird skies and very little wind.  On the water about 8:30am and fished until almost 5pm.  Water temp was 50-52 degrees over the course of the day and was stained green with about 4-5’ visibility.  I caught 1 fish before noon on a Spro Little John crankbait, and the other two in the afternoon on a Ned rig (Big TRD in Hot Snakes color).  Ned rig bites were VERY subtle with just a moving of the line and a “heavy feel” when picking up slack.  The frustrating part was that I could see fish all over the lake on my fish finder, but I just couldn’t give them anything they wanted.Other baits tried with no success: squarebill, lipless, flashy swimmer, medium diving crankbait, drop shot, weighted wacky rig, jerkbait, T-rig worm, mojo rigged lizard.

I did get to meet the land owner Eric, and as others have noted he’s very friendly and wants to make sure we have a good time fishing.  He even offered to have me fish another pond on the property that was not reserved that day since I was’t having any luck.  I didn’t take him up on that, but it was very nice of him to offer.
