First time to fish Long Lake on Jan 17th. Weather started out cold in the 30’s but warmed up to near 60 by afternoon with blue bird skies and very little wind. On the water about 8:30am and fished until almost 5pm. Water temp was 50-52 degrees over the course of the day and was stained green with about 4-5’ visibility. I caught 1 fish before noon on a Spro Little John crankbait, and the other two in the afternoon on a Ned rig (Big TRD in Hot Snakes color). Ned rig bites were VERY subtle with just a moving of the line and a “heavy feel” when picking up slack. The frustrating part was that I could see fish all over the lake on my fish finder, but I just couldn’t give them anything they wanted.Other baits tried with no success: squarebill, lipless, flashy swimmer, medium diving crankbait, drop shot, weighted wacky rig, jerkbait, T-rig worm, mojo rigged lizard.
I did get to meet the land owner Eric, and as others have noted he’s very friendly and wants to make sure we have a good time fishing. He even offered to have me fish another pond on the property that was not reserved that day since I was’t having any luck. I didn’t take him up on that, but it was very nice of him to offer.

I saw your truck! I fished Salt Lick and had to really work for them, but got some really nice ones. Everything was very deep on A-Rigs or 6XD speed cranked. They wanted moving baits. I did get 2 on the fly rod on a full sink line around trees in 15’.
