The first time for me to fish Long Lake was on Saturday, October 23rd – I fished from Noon to about 6:30 pm

Temp, when I arrived, was 82 degrees and around 77 degrees at 6 pm – the wind was a steady 12 MPH out of the south all day with gusts up to 15 MPH

Water was fairly clear with viz about 4 to 5 feet I didn’t get a water temp but my guess is about 73 degrees if you trust the old stick you hand in and guess method.

I caught 22 fish and 10 would have been culls if we were keeping under 14” fish and 5 of the ten were under 10” a couple of these went sailing past my head after I put the overzealous hook set to them. 90% of the fish were caught in the south end of the lake. I tried to show loc’s on a map which is attached.

From Noon to 5:00 pm or so the most productive baits were a TX rigged Zoom Super Speed Craw in June Bug color and an unpegged 3/16 oz weight and a Drop shot with a few different baits but in the Junebug color. I did have a really nice fish break me off on the drop-shot but I never got a look at it so you never really know.

From 5:30 to 6:30 the topwater action picked up. Larget fish which was 4 lbs 7 oz was caught on a buzz bait (pics attached) and a nice fish smacked a frog about 10 feet from the boat and it was awesome to see it suck that frog under(Pic included)

Also, I was treated to a great sunset -(pic included) When I was leaving I meet a fellow PWF’er that was also fishing and I enjoyed visiting with him for a few minutes as we left.

Just a note the owner is a great guy and he really cares and is extremely thoughtful when it comes to making sure PWF’ers have a great time on the lakes on his property. He has made an effort to come to say hello to me on many occasions and I enjoy speaking with him about the property. I just wish I knew more about what kind of things would really improve the lakes it’s just not anything I have any practical experience with. I have fished all 3 of the lakes he has open and I think although these are relatively young lakes they are off to a great start and some pigs are going to be pulled out of them in the years to come.
