At Tara, you always know there’s a real possibility of getting a big one. That reality always keeps us curious, drawing us back for another try. We arrived around noon, Sunday, October 24th, exchanged hello’s with Claude, the owner (nice guy), and launched on a really windy afternoon. The lake is way down, probably about 3 ½ feet. We estimated the water temp in the high 60’s, fairly stained water, and very little vegetation. Just holding anywhere without an anchor was a challenge in the wind. We threw most of the box but the baits that produced were a white chatter bait, small ned rig, and a weightless Senko. Bites were mostly slow and really hard to come by. We fished hard, hitting most of the brush piles and around the dam, only nabbing about 3 small ones. Then, out of nowhere, Trav stuck a really solid 6lb hoss on a ned rig in around 5 feet of water around a point not far from the left side of the dam later in the day. We pounded that area for a while, but that was it. The bites were random, making it difficult to find a pattern. I missed a good one around the dam on a weightless Senko. We really hope the area gets some good rain in the fall and winter months. Tara is an amazing tank and has a bunch of great quality bass. Maybe next spring…

There is a big fish with my favorite rattle trap in his lip from a couple weeks ago. It came off that point you referenced. Sometimes the big girls win.
