Reservation Number : 30066
Property Name : Deer Trail Ranch
Reservation Date : 10/23/2021 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 47 bass / up to 3.8 lbs
Lures Used : Most effective were: z-craw worm t-rig, chatterbait

Pam and I had the pleasure of fishing Deer Trail Saturday under cloudy, turning to mostly sunny, skies and 63 to 85F temps with variable winds from 6 to 13MPH. The water at Deer Trail was definitely down from full pool and at 69 to 74F with 20IN of viz with a brownish tint. The vegetation was subsurface and most of the pads were up out of the water.

We landed 47 healthy bass up to 3.8lbs while harvesting 10 of them at 13.5IN. Of those returned, most were just shy of 2lbs with mostly flat bellies. We did catch several in the 2+ range and 3 in the 3+ range. The most effective lures were z-craw t-rig worms where the bites came during extended pauses and a slow-rolled chatterbait. We tried a lot of lures and techniques but just could not get them to chase or commit to anything moving. There was no topwater or near surface action; with the majority of the bites coming from 5 to 10FOW, maybe 20 to 30 yards from the shore, especially near any piece of brush. We did manage some reaction bites in the shallows as well in the thicker grass patches. While the action was steady, and the fight thrilling when it was on, the bite was subtle and the fish scattered.

We sure enjoyed the fishing and the relaxing and snoozing during our shore lunch at this beautiful PWF property!

Nice work y’all – beautiful area up there, nice and secluded.  I wan’t that water to cool off to 55-60 degrees so all the fish will move up and start heavily feeding.  Still having to fish like it is summer somewhat.
