Reservation Number : 29703
Property Name : Lakota Lake
Reservation Date : 09/09/2021 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 5 Largemouth Bass / 1-13", 1-12.5" and 3 between 2 and 2-3/4 pounds each.
Lures Used : Epic Baits Plastic Flute (Sunfish) and Epic Baits Worm (Watermelon/Milky Way)

I went to Lakota for my second time at this beautiful lake. I got to the gate and could not get the club lock to open using the combination, but was lucky and the lock on the oposite side of the gate for I believe timer company combination lock was able to open by simply pulling on it and it opened. Notified Cole of combination lock problem.

I started fishing around 10am and caught my first withing 15 – 20 minutes using an Epic Baits (Sunfish Colored) 5” Fluke. Caught two more within the next hour using the same Epic Baits Fluke. After that, everything seemed to come to a halt and no more fish caught for a few hours. Moved around to the other side of the island in a cove and found a few in a small area and could not get a bite on the fluke anymore, so used an Epic Baits 5” Senko style of worm in the Watermelon/Milky Way color combo and got hits and started catching more. Caught 2 and lost another decent fish and things seemed to halt again and never caught anything else for the day and moved all over trying to find some. I went back a ways in the cove and the water got warmer (over 90 degrees) and could not find any sign of any kind of fish on my Garmin so moved out further towards the main lake and as the water got to below 79 degrees, I saw more fish (mostly perch).

Fishing was not real consistant, but most of the fish I did catch were decent fish of over 2 lbs and put up a good fight. I fished to it started getting late and loaded up and went back home.

I lhave video which will be loaded in the near future as I process and edit video for publication. The weather was great and the Southeast Texas weather was a bit cooler than it has been most of the summer with lower humidity for the day which made fishing pleasureable. I could not get power to my Livescope so I could not watch fish as easily but still had my sonar downscan and sidescan so could see some fish, but not near as visable in places I found them my last trip to Lakota. I saw some of the fish suspended in a few foot of water as it appeared that a somewhat thermocline may have been present in the deeper parts of the lake.

Had a fun day, although most fish were caught in a couple of narrow time periods.

I saw where someone has fished since I last fished here and may be a member or owner. I found the boat has been moved and boat looked to be in very good condition but I used my PA14 Kayak so never used the boat but it looked clean and ready for use. Ramp could sure use some of the rock pile located close to the ramp spread for launching, but for a kayak, the unimproved ramp is acceptable. Water was tea colored and not overgrown with vegetation but does have some to help keep fish. The feeders went off a few times and the perch made the water boil around the feeder. Lake is easy to move around in a kayak or other kind of boat. The roadway getting back to the lake gets quite bumpy in some spots but could be driven when wet from some rain however.
