Arrived at 6:30am to calm water which worked well for noisy topwater baits and had four relatively quick hook-ups, including a 5.5lb pig.  However, as the sun came out and the wind picked up, the bite seemed to turn off.  Water temp was around 85 degrees which I’m guessing made the bass a little sluggish as I only boated two additional bass from about 8:30am – 1pm, at which point I had had enough of fighting the wind and slow bite.  Both additional bass were off a crankbait, i.e. reaction strikes.  Finese fishing with soft plastics produced zero additional fish which is unusual for me as I fish soft plastics religiously.  The lake is fishable but heavy vegetation exists which I’m guessing the fish are hiding in, among, and under and my soft plastics couldn’t coax them out today.  As always, the property is in outstanding shape.  While it was a slow day, the 5.5lb’er still made my morning.
