Wives gave us the day off so I fished with fellow member John Herrington from 6:30am – 2pm under bluebird skies and winds gusting to 10 – 15mph.  Water temp was around 85 degrees.  Action was slow early but we finally found them about 30 feet or so off the shoreline.  Ended up boating 29 fish but also lost a few near the boat.  Weighted and weightless soft plastics worked well, especially for the chunky bass that Triple J produces (color didn’t seem to matter).  Other reaction baits found varying degrees of success although topwater was basically non-existent.  At this time of year, it is nice being able to throw the whole tackle box as vegetation is limited.  Note the club boat has a leak near the plug so bring a bilge pump or be prepared to bail some water throughout the day.
