First trip Hudson and it is a a great setting. Arrived at the ramp just as getting light with dead calm winds and stem rising from lake. As getting boat in water I pretty sure saw an otter swing along the bank near the first cabin from boat ramp. Once in water started to try and get a better look but that as it for the day.
Started catching on Pop-R within minutes of launching. Largest of the day ws topwater and I would say these fight pound for pound harder than most of the other PWF lakes I have been on. I lost 6-7 at the boat when they would jump 2+ feet out of water.Top water action was steady till sun came over trees. May have lasted longer if would have had at least a ripple on surface. After picking up worm and underspin swim bait continued with a steady bite. Only one fish caught was not full bellied and healthy but noticed had a healed area on belly that looked like a long cut. I have seen this tpe of damage from comorants but may be the otter. Found another 4+ bass floating as heading for the ramp that was chewed up pretty severly.
Overall great day – water temp started at 85 and got to 87 by 11:30 and probably 2+ feet visibility. Moss is getting to the surface in shallow end of lake but still fishable if can get through with trolling motor.
Some minor washing of road in but still passable in truck or suv
