Reservation Number : 28843
Property Name : Briar Branch
Reservation Date : 06/14/2021 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 18 LMB - 1-3 lbs, 1 bluegill
Lures Used : Senko, Pop R, Whopper Plopper, Baby 1-, Jackhammer chatterbait

Started early – on the water before dawn. Caught several on topwaters then shallow crankbaits, then Senkos then Jackhammer chatterbaits. The fish never really never slowed down but we sure did. Almost no wind and high humidity did us in. Quit before noon.

Water temps around 80, air temps from 76-90, high humidity. Little to no wind. Water clarity to 4+ ft. Vegetation was shockingly heavy at first glance from shore but launching and navigating was not a problem. As others have said, there are plenty of good areas to fish. One good area is around the big stump at the end of one jetty. Two of our biggest (3 pounders) were caught just out from the dam. Caught fish mainly along the edge of the weedlines. Frog poppers worked. Whopper Poppers worked. Senkos worked. Don’t let the moss scare you off. This property is close to Ft Worth and Dallas with easy access and cooperative bass. Check it out!

I meant to add some tips for launching/landing through vegetatiion. We found it easy to do if we raised the trolling motor completely out of the water and paddle the short distsnce from shore to open water. The boat just glides over the mossy water easily.

Another tip is to lower the trolling motor only until the prop is about half way under water. It will throw some water mostly back behind the boat but will propel the boat over and through mossy water.

So again don’t let the mentions of moss here deter you. It’s really not a big deal.
