First time PWF post here! I had an absolute blast out at The Bigwood. Such a beautiful property full of so many different areas and opportunities to sharpen your angling skills. I fished from 1:30p-7:45p or so with minimal luck. I say minimal because previous fishing reports showed 30+ bass caught! I snatched up 10 beautiful bass with tons of strength and determination to stay below water surface – truly a blast. That said, once the rain crept in the bass shut the bite down. The largest of the day was a 3.5LB bass that was a blast to fight. Almost all of the bass were against the dam, and on the opposite side of the lake from the house. I saw and heard a handful of blow ups that let me know that once the warmer days are back this is likely a dream of a lake to visit for some bigger bass. I saw more snakes than I expected but that doesn’t bother me one bit. The Bluegill Swimbaits were being absolutely hammered for the 3 hours that the sun was shining. They also went hard after Chartreuse Swim Jigs.

The owner came by to say hello and ask how things were going – incredibly nice gentleman! Even though I voluntarily avoided the boat he encouraged me to use it if I knew how to use it and wanted to take it out on the water. I will say, because of all the recent rain the lake is up north of 2-3’ so it’s a fun challenge to bank fish. I have waiters and didn’t mind sloshing through some of the areas that were previously the dirt banks. I’d highly recommend using the Member boat and/or bring your own kayak to explore all of the nooks & crannies.

Altogether, a soft day but I still had an absolute blast and will be returning as soon as the sun starts shining here in North Texas!

P.S. – my water Nalgene fell out of my backpack at some point and even after retracing my steps for 30+ minutes I could not for the life of me find it. So sorry to have left any trace of visiting. It has a blue lid and is covered in a myriad of stickers. My apologies when/if anybody stumbles upon it!

there are some big fish at that lake (owner said the party before us caught a 10lb striper and I caught my PB LMB there). When we fished it, the bass were either biting or not at all – very hot/cold.  Each section of the lake is completely different from the other – pretty wild to have that different a type of structure and cover in one lake that size.  Definitely one of my favorites of the lakes ive fished at PWF. Glad you enjoyed it and welcome aboard.
