We fished Tara Lake on Saturday. Partly cloudy, to cloudy, with a chilly wind for much of the day. Lake was full with a surface temp from 59 to 62 and with viz to 12in. We thoroughly enjoyed our first chance to fish this beauty in Muenster. We landed 31 bass and 5 crappie. We had 2 5’s, 4 4’s, 4 3’s and mostly 2’s after that – only a couple of dinks – a few slab crappie thrown in as well. So, all-in-all, a very high-quality bite! Lures/techniques: Most effective were: t-rig worm, weighted paddletail, weightless wacky senko, weightless t-rig senko – all in green pumpkin, watermelon, or pearl. The bass were definitely on the beds – with thick bellies and some wear and tear on the tails. With the turbidity at this lake, sight fishing is not a thing, but clearly we were most productive casting to the shore and all catches were within 12ft of the shorline. The bass were all healthy, plump, and goregous – and did not want to come into the boat! As another poster had noted, there is one tricky spot on the ranch road through the trees to the lake, but manageable in all but the wettest conditions. We also met Claude, the ranch owner, who was doing some trimming and burning. He was very nice and hospitable and noted that they’re enjoying the relationship with PWF and that club members have all been super respectful and careful with the property. Blessed day – aweseome addition to the club!
