A buddy of mine and I were at San Saba 1.5 days. Day one we were on the lake at 2 and caught 20 before we called it a day at dusk. Two 5s a bunch of 4s and only 1 cull. Not one bite on soft plastics. All were caught on white chatter, red ratlle trap, and a couple on plopper. Day 2 was brutal. We showed up to the lake and temp was 33. Fish had lockjaw. Not a bite until lunchtime. We threw everything and final called it quits around 3 with only 3 fish for the day…all tiny. Ken, the owner, said he had put in a bunch Florida bass to improve the genetics. He also said he put in 42,000 shad.

Lake is several feet low. Western end and southern end are either dry or 1-2 feet. Still a great time but just know before you go that fishable area is probably 60-70% of what it is when full.
