I fished Pecan Gap from noon until five pm under overcast skies with a steady southern breeze, several Red-tailed hawks circling overhead to keep me company. The water level is at least two feet low with 15 feet of the western, gently sloping shoreline exposed. Normally lined by tall vegetation, the recent freeze has resulted in essentiallly no shoreline vegetation anywhere on the lake. The water is gin clear with a visibility of six to eight feet or more, a surface temperature in the low sixties after several days of warm weather.

The only lure that was successful was a green over white jerk bait. Nothing with flash or vibration produced any strikes. There is a significant amount of filamentous algae all over the lake bottom making bottom presentations frustrating and forcing mid water column presentations a bit higher, particularly treble hook lures.

All the strikes were on the eastern shore about 10-20 feet from the bank. The three bass were healthy and plump while the crappie were…crappie.

This is a beautiful property, a big thank you to PWF for securing it for the club.
