Pam and I had a good day on Hickory Creek landing 47 bass (up to 3.6 lbs) with 15 harvested and 8 crappie (on bass baits – a couple of them were major slabs!). Spent most of the day on the front lake which accounted for 42 of the bass and 3 of the crappie – after the wind turned northerly the bite subsided considerably, so we took a lunch break and hit the back lake for about an hour and a half (note: the 2 biggest bass were from the back lake). A white 3.8 paddletail on an underspin did the most damage along with a silver Rapala Shad Rap. Lake was full with great color and clarity (about 3ft) at 54F with some silk algae around the perimeter but not bad at all. Bass in the front lake were caught in about 3 to 6 FOW and were fat healthy and hard-fighting. Half of the harvesters were full of eggs. This is our second time on this property and have to say we forgot how special it is – just a beautiful place in the East TX pines with a resident bald eagle family and “bunch” of deer grazing in the meadow. Also, the management is paying off – the bass are getting bigger FAST. Thank you PWF and landowners.
