First let me say that Black Hat is a high quality destination. From personal experience I can safely say you can truly expect to hook into 4lb and 5lb bass, even an occasional true giant. It's just a well maintained property. However…... But! There's always a but. At this time the lake is under tough conditions. The lower 1/3 of the lake is not fish able. Weeds have choked off access to the islands which in the past produced plenty of action. The lake level is down and the perimeter, especially along the far side of the lake, is extremely shallow. Now, are fish still there? Sure. we caught a few. Actually, 3 in that 4 and 5 lb range, but action was every slow, no discernable pattern, and believe me we threw everything including the kitchen sink. LOL With patience and great electronics you might find the fish and tie into a PB, I wish you good luck, or perhaps wait a bit and hope the lake returns to its former glory. My buddy and I caught a few and maybe the rest of the population was simply disinterested, but hey….. "It's time on the water."
