A buddy and I tried out Double A lake. We got too early a start and arrived in the dark which made 317 tough to see ( if you enter Van Zant county you've past it), but day light came and we found the launch site and got started. Chose the longer of the two jon boats…. mistake! Took on water and soon had to make a switch to a second boat. This lake looks like frog heaven, but that was not a productive approach…. nada! So go to the unusual: who doesn't really like a 5lb, then his or her bigger sister explode on your Spro Rat being slowly dragged along the outside of a weed line? Wow, explain how that thing kept getting action from large, angry black bass. Mean while, my buddy was producing fish on a Senko but action was spotty and no real pattern. He finally relented and tied on a lipless crank bait  that netted one fish…... yeah, one fish. The one that makes your day. What a "hog", and that was it….. day worth all the effort! We ran out of battery and our back up was dead so we called it, but a slow day for numbers can be great when bigger fish come out to play! We want to give this property another go. We met the owner and he really wants a quality lake that gives a guest great value, hook onto a Double A brute and he's got a solid foundation.
