My son and I fished this lake for the first time on Saturday.  We fished the entire day - sunrise to sunset.  The morning started cool with a fairly heavy fog.  The top water bite was good early on.  We caught about a dozen using a frog and whopper plopper and probably missed about another dozen.  After the top water bite died down we switched to moving baits.  We tried various lures but couldn't get a bite.  Getting no bites on moving baits we switched to TX rigged worms and caught a number of good fish.  The bite slowed down around noon so we stopped for lunch.  After lunch we switched back to moving baits and they were smashing the chatterbait (Z Man Jackhammer) and large swim baits.  That was pretty much the pattern for the rest of the day.  When they would stop hitting moving baits we'd go to TX rigs until that slowed down and then move back to moving baits.  We had our best success fishing along the long east bank.  We caught a total of 42 and lost I don't know how many more.  These fish fight!!!  They are mad and when you hook into one you know it.  They are jumpers and when they get near the boat they dive straight down.  If you fish this lake make sure your line is good and your knots are tight.  We feel like we could have done better but there was a pretty good south wind.  As a result we got blown around pretty good.  We didn't really get to fish the south end because of the wind.  We had an anchor but had a hard time getting it to hold unless we were in shallower water where it would get caught in the vegetation.  We spent a lot of energy and time dropping and pulling up the anchor to move from one location to another.  Nearing sunset the bite was on fire and on my last cast I caught the largest fish of the day weighing 6 lbs.  We caught a few dinks but most of the fish were in the 2.5 to 4.5 range.  This is a lake where you feel every cast could be a monster and if it isn't it will feel like it.  These fish are a blast to catch.  This lake is a great addition to PWF and we cannot wait to fish it again.
